Raw and freeze-dried raw cat foods have grown popular with owners drawn to high-protein, minimally processed diets. When we compared these products, we focused on what matters: named animal proteins, whether the formula is a complete diet or a topper, and how each fits into a cat’s overall nutrition. We checked formulas against AAFCO statements and kept FDA and AVMA raw-handling guidance front of mind. We did not run feeding trials ourselves, so our assessment leans on manufacturer specifications, recognized nutrition standards, and the patterns in owner feedback. Raw feeding carries handling considerations, since raw animal ingredients can harbor bacteria, so safe storage and hygiene matter. We also want to be clear that raw diets are not right for every cat or every household. Before switching your cat to any raw or freeze-dried raw food, we strongly recommend talking with your veterinarian, especially if your cat is very young, senior, or has a health condition.
