A saddle pad that fits a pony correctly protects its back and keeps the saddle stable, while one sized for a full horse bunches and rubs. When we evaluated pony pads we focused on pony-specific sizing, shock absorption, and material, drawing on manufacturer dimensions and aggregated owner feedback rather than inventing our own fit trials. What we like about the right pony pad is how it disappears under the saddle: correct dimensions mean no overhang, good cushioning spreads pressure, and breathable lining wicks sweat. We weighted true pony sizing heavily because the most common mistake we see is buying a pad that is simply too big. Fit and back health go together, and if your pony shows soreness or rubbing, we recommend consulting an equine veterinarian or qualified saddle fitter.
