Self-cleaning slicker brushes solved the most annoying part of grooming a cat: pulling tangled fur out of the bristles by hand. In our evaluation we looked for a retract button that ejects collected hair in one press and bristles fine enough to reach the undercoat without dragging on skin. We compared each brush against its manufacturer description, the bristle angle owners report as comfortable, and patterns in feline owner feedback. What we like are brushes that release cleanly every time and that cats tolerate during a full session. We do not claim any grooming tool replaces veterinary care, so if your cat has skin irritation or heavy matting, consult a veterinarian before brushing aggressively.
