When we set out to evaluate chew proof crate pads, the first thing we accepted is that no pad is truly indestructible. A motivated dog with time and boredom will test any seam, so what we looked for was reinforced construction, tightly woven fabric, and edges that resist the unraveling that turns a torn pad into a swallowing hazard. In our evaluation we weighted three things heavily: how the pad holds up to repeated chewing pressure, how easy it is to wash and dry, and how well it fits common crate sizes without bunching. We recommend pairing any of these pads with crate training and supervision, because the most durable pad still works best for a dog that is settled rather than anxious. What we like most are pads that combine ripstop or ballistic-style fabric with double-stitched borders.
