We treated pet covers as the cheapest insurance an owner can buy for a sofa. The job is simple on paper, keep fur, mud, and the occasional accident off the furniture, but covers fail in predictable ways: they slide, they leak at the seams, or they fall apart in the wash. We focused on the ones that hold up. In our evaluation we compared reversible blankets and fitted couch protectors, looking at how well the waterproof layer actually blocks liquid, whether the cover grips or creeps, and how it survives repeated washing. We recommend measuring your furniture before ordering and prioritizing a non-slip backing, because the most common complaint is a cover that bunches up the moment a dog turns around.
