A full-size vacuum is the workhorse of any home with pets, and the wrong one turns daily shedding into a losing battle. We compared upright pet vacuums with a focus on the features that separate a capable machine from a frustrating one: suction strength, brush-roll design, and how well the filtration captures fine dander rather than recirculating it. In our evaluation we leaned on manufacturer specs, published filtration claims, and aggregated owner feedback across carpet and hard-floor homes. We did not stage our own months-long durability test, so we frame these as evaluations of design and reported performance. What we like are uprights that pair real suction with a brush roll that resists hair tangles, plus a sealed filtration path that keeps allergens in the bin. Maneuverability matters too, since a vacuum that fights you around furniture legs is one you will not reach for as often as you should.
