Cats are escape artists, so the whole point of a walking harness is a fit secure enough that a determined cat cannot back out of it. We compared five escape-proof cat and kitten harness sets, focusing on adjustability, the amount of body coverage, soft breathable materials, and the quality of the included leash. In our evaluation we relied on manufacturer specs, listed size ranges and materials, and aggregated owner feedback about escapes, chafing, and acclimation. What we like in a cat harness is a vest or wrap style with multiple adjustment points, soft fabric that does not rub behind the legs, and secure buckles that hold under a sudden pull. We recommend measuring your cat’s neck and chest girth before buying, since fit is the entire safety story here. A harness should always be introduced gradually indoors, and outdoor walks should be supervised at all times, never left to a tethered, unattended cat.
