A good dog rain suit earns its place on the hook by the third muddy week of the season. We compared full-body rain coats and suits with the goal of keeping a dog drier and cleaner on the walk, which saves the post-walk towel battle and keeps wet-dog smell out of the house. In our evaluation we focused on genuine waterproofing versus mere water resistance, how much of the legs and belly each design covers, and whether the fit can be dialed in for both narrow and barrel-chested dogs. We weighed manufacturer specs against aggregated owner feedback on belly straps slipping and hoods staying put. What we like is full leg coverage with adjustable closures, because a coat that only shields the back leaves the underside soaked and muddy.
