We compared light-up dog vests and harnesses with one question front of mind: will a driver see your dog in time. Instead of staging our own night trials, we evaluated each option against manufacturer brightness and run-time specs, the visibility logic behind reflective versus active LED gear, and the recurring themes in owner feedback about charging and fit. What we like about a good LED harness is that it does two jobs at once. In our evaluation we found the best options pair genuine active illumination with a practical no-pull harness, so you get visibility and control in a single piece of gear. We looked at how the lights are powered, how many modes they offer, whether the glow wraps around the dog or only faces forward, and how the harness fits without rubbing. We recommend choosing a rechargeable design with side-to-side visibility, because a light a driver can only see head-on does far less to keep your dog safe on the road.
