When a cat starts missing the box or hesitating at the edge, the problem is often the entry wall, not the litter. We focused this guide on low-entry designs because reduced step-over height is the single change that helps kittens, recovering cats, and arthritic seniors use a box reliably again. We compared open pans, collapsible travel boxes, and large high-back models with a low front cut. In our evaluation we found that the right box depends on your cat’s size and mobility rather than a single best answer. We looked at usable floor area, how easily litter scoops out of the corners, whether the material resists odor and scratching, and how stable the box stays when a big cat climbs in. What we like most are boxes that pair a low front with high sides so litter stays contained without blocking entry.
