When we evaluated pet rain and weather covers, we looked at how well each one actually keeps a dog dry while still letting air move. We compared a large outdoor dog tent, a small-dog shade shelter, a full-coverage waterproof kennel cover and a transparent stroller rain cover, checking each against published waterproof ratings and the coverage owners reported. What we like in this category is that the right cover solves a specific problem: shade in summer, dry shelter in rain, or wind protection on a walk. We weighed fabric denier, seam coverage, ventilation and fit. Because trapped heat and humidity can be dangerous, we recommend choosing breathable designs, never sealing a dog into an enclosed space in hot weather, and always providing fresh air and water.
