Pit bull type dogs are strong, athletic, and hard on their gear, so the stuff that works for a small breed often fails them fast. We pulled together the products pit bull owners search for most, from a heavy-duty no-pull tactical harness to chew toys built for aggressive chewers, plus a deshedding brush, a fleece blanket, and a fun owner sign. We tested the harness on a muscular medium-large dog for escape resistance and whether the chest fit a broad, deep frame, ran chew toys past a powerful chewer to see what survived, and used the brush through a coat-blow to measure how much loose hair it pulled. Pit bulls are short-coated but they shed more than people expect, so grooming gear earns its keep. We also looked at fit and comfort, because a harness that chafes a barrel chest is a non-starter. Whether you need working gear or a gift, here is what held up to a strong dog and what we would skip.
