Large dogs feel the cold too, especially short-coated breeds on frosty morning walks. We looked at the sweaters and hoodies owners buy for big dogs, comparing how true the sizing runs, how much warmth the knit or fleece provides, and how easily each washes after a muddy outing. Fit is where most large-dog sweaters fall apart, since charts vary wildly between brands, so we leaned on owner-reported sizing. In our evaluation we found chest girth, back length, and leg-hole placement decide whether a sweater stays put or twists into a knot. A turtleneck adds neck warmth that matters for breeds that run cold. What we like is a sweater that pulls on without a fight, stretches over a deep chest, and survives repeated washing without losing shape. We kept the focus on genuine large and giant breeds, not medium dogs squeezed into a large label.
