Walking two dogs on one leash is a coordination problem, and the hardware either solves it or makes it worse. In our evaluation we found the deciding feature is a true 360-degree swivel that untangles the lines as the dogs cross paths, because without it you spend the walk unwinding a knot. We compared coupler-style leashes and dual retractables against manufacturer weight ratings and aggregated owner reports on tangling and handle comfort. What we like is shock absorption that softens sudden lunges plus a swivel that actually rotates under tension. We recommend matching the couplerโ€™s rated weight to your heavier dog and choosing a fixed coupler over a retractable if your dogs pull hard or differ greatly in size, since retractables offer less direct control.
