When we set out to evaluate calming vests for anxious dogs, we focused on the things owners actually wrestle with: does it stay snug without slipping, can a dog still move freely, and does it survive the wash? Pressure-wrap garments work on a simple, widely cited principle of gentle, constant pressure, but the execution varies a lot between sizes and fabrics. In our evaluation we leaned on manufacturer sizing charts, published guidance on gentle pressure for noise sensitivity, and the patterns we saw across hundreds of owner reports. We recommend treating any vest as one tool among several, not a standalone fix. If your dog’s anxiety is severe or escalating, talk to your veterinarian before relying on a vest, since some cases need a fuller behavior and medical plan.
