An elevated cot lifts a large dog off hard floors and hot patios, and the airflow underneath keeps a big body cooler than a foam bed that traps heat. For large breeds the make-or-break factors are weight capacity and frame rigidity. A 90-pound dog flopping down repeatedly will expose any cot that flexes, sags in the middle, or wobbles on uneven ground. We looked at how taut the fabric stays over time, whether the corners pull loose, and how the legs handle a heavy dog jumping on and off. Outdoors we checked rust resistance on the frame and whether the fabric fades or mildews. Indoors we looked at floor grip and how much noise the legs make on hardwood. Measure your dog from nose to tail base and add several inches so a large dog can stretch out fully without hanging off the edge. A cot that lists capacity with margin above your dog weight will stay taut far longer than one rated right at the limit.
