Pet hair is the real test of a robot vacuum, so we judged these on suction, brush design, and how well each resists tangling around long fur. For this guide we compared five robot vacuums and mop combos, reviewing manufacturer suction ratings in pascals, self-emptying features, and aggregated owner feedback from homes with shedding dogs and cats. In our evaluation we found raw suction numbers only tell part of the story, because brush roll design and bin capacity matter just as much for picking up hair without clogging. We recommend a self-emptying base for heavy shedders, since it cuts real-world maintenance dramatically. What we like in the strongest options is reliable navigation that does not strand the robot under furniture, plus filtration that traps fine dander rather than recirculating it into the air.
