A cloth that blocks more sun while still letting air pass is what keeps a run usable through a hot afternoon. What we like is a reinforced, taped edge with grommets spaced closely enough to spread tension without tearing. We compared sizes from compact runs to large double kennels, looked at anti-tear claims, and judged how quickly each cover attaches. Shade is only one part of heat safety, so always pair it with fresh water and never rely on a cover alone in extreme heat.
