An interactive walking dog toy can capture a child’s imagination in a way a static plush never does. In our evaluation we found that the toys kids return to again and again are the ones with believable movement and sound, where the puppy actually walks, barks, and reacts rather than just buzzing in place. We weighed motion quality against build durability, battery setup, and how engaging each one stays after the novelty wears off. What we like are toys that combine several behaviors, such as walking, barking, and tail wagging, since the variety keeps younger children interested. These are toys for kids, not pets, so we focused on play value and sturdiness, and we note that small parts and batteries mean adult supervision is sensible for very young children.
